Alimony laws exist to assist financially-disadvantaged spouses adjust to their separation or divorce. Join matrimonial attorney Colleen Huott in this introductory presentation on alimony laws in Florida. Ms. Huott discusses how the courts determine a party’s need for alimony and the other party’s ability to pay. She also goes over the factors that courts take into consideration when determining the type of alimony and calculating the amount (factors include the prior standard of living, contributions of each party, the current financial resources of each party, the length of marriage, and others). This CLE will also cover how to modify an alimony award, obtain temporary alimony, and enforce an award from a delinquent party.
