Description:

Social media was once just a way to connect with old friends, share photos, or share your personal thoughts on topical issues.  Now it has become a vehicle for growing business, disseminating your message and boosting your firm’s bottom line. For law firms and individual attorneys to stay competitive in the new Web 2.0 age, they must begin to build their social media presence and capitalize on the opportunities social networking can offer. Gina Rubel and Laura Powers will provide attorneys with a basic understanding of social media and tips and strategies for generating business and spreading their message through social media outlets.  With emphasis on the Rules of Professional Conduct, which govern these communications, Gina and Laura  will explore how attorneys can ethically communicate a brand, build a niche, expand their networks, talk to the media, and grow their businesses while not running afoul of the Codes.

• What is social media, and why does it matter today?
• Is social media marketing ethical?
• What are the different forms of social media and which outlets make
  sense for lawyers?
• What are the benefits to using social media?
all while providing attorneys with practical tips about where they should focus
their energy in order to reach the right audience and achieve their public relations
  objectives.
