Join returning faculty member Sherri Jefferson as she educates and promotes an understanding of the affects of deprivation and delinquency for juveniles in Georgia. Ms. Jefferson will focus primarily on United States Supreme court cases to examine the history and effectiveness of juvenile and family court proceedings as well as the development of the "best interests of the child" standard. She will also use Georgia state cases to exemplify the historical progression in state law. Finally, Ms. Jefferson will reveal the hidden injustices associated with prosecuting and advocating for minority children and children with special needs.
