Improper emergency protocol and slow patient care for health care facilities can cause serious danger to the general public – risking their health or even their lives. Federal, State, and Local regulations exist to protect emergency health care facilities from liability in chaotic situations (such as “State of Emergencies,” “Disasters,” or “Public Health Emergencies”) so that they can maximize their services while alleviating liability concerns. Join attorney Doris Varlese in this CLE program where she discusses the various laws that cover emergency health care providers protection. She goes over several recent emergencies (Hurricane Irene in New York, H1N1 outbreak, Hurricane Katrina) and the specific issues that arose in them. This course will familiarize attorneys with the legal and regulatory issues in health care emergency management.
