The administration of a decedent’s estate in Florida is often a straightforward process that can be handled by a responsible surviving family member.  In certain situations, however, an issue can appear that throws a monkey wrench into the process and prevents assets from being distributed in a timely manner. In this program, Florida attorney Elliot Borkson explains the estate administration process and how to address common problems.   Mr. Borkson begins by presenting a general background on the Florida probate rules.  He then guides viewers through the steps that must be taken to successfully administer an estate (selecting a Personal Representative, submitting various forms to the court, gathering the required information, and performing an accounting of the estate).  The program concludes with a discussion of the Homestead Act and how it can qualify as an exemption from the probate estate. This is an excellent introductory course for Florida attorneys on the essential parts of probating an estate.
