Computer Forensics: Deleting Does Not Mean What You Think
| Faculty: | Scott Aurnou |
| Production Date: | June 8 2011 |
Description
As the number of scandalized politicians continues to rise due to the discovery of inappropriate emails, Facebook messages, or Twitter posts, it becomes more and more evident that digital documents can always be acquired one way or another – even if they are deleted. In this timely presentation, Scott Aurnou teaches attorneys all about computer forensics and the importance it plays in both criminal and civil cases. Mr. Aurnou begins his presentation with a general introduction to the topic by discussing the various forms of electronic data that exist and the devices where it can be stored. He then talks about the electronic forensic process in litigation and the safety precautions parties must take when handling and extracting data. He concludes his presentation with excellent suggestions on how companies can establish protocols as a means to avoid costly mistakes and minimize risks when responding to a security breach. Mr. Aurnou’s clear delivery of the subject matter and use of relevant cases make this program valuable for attorneys counseling clients who are dealing with computer forensic discovery issues and for managing their own firm's electonic data.
Agenda:
I. Introduction to Computer Forensics
II. The Forensic Process
