Construction Site Accidents: The Current State of New York Labor Law
| Faculty: | John Gorton |
| Production Date: | April 25 2011 |
Description
Construction accident cases under New York's Labor Law can be incredibly lucrative because of the potentially serious damages to the plaintiffs. As a result, there is probably no area in personal injury law that is the subject of more aggressive litigation and appellate practice. In this program, attorney John Gorton gives an overview of New York Law, discussing how owners and general contractors can be held vicariously liable for their contractor’s negligence. Specifically, Gorton covers Labor Laws 200, 241(6) and 240 and what causes of action they provide for injured construction workers. This course teaches best practices for both sides of the bench as well as provides a detailed introduction to the this hot area of New York tort law.
