Description

While the future of the federal estate tax laws are up in the air, New York residents must still comply with the estate tax laws of New York. Join attorney George Gray as he answers your questions on New York's estate tax, wills and trusts laws.  Gray provides an informative overview of the significant provisions of New York's Estate Powers and Trust Law (EPTL). The program also focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of wills and trusts, emphasizing the benefits trusts confer by avoiding the probate process.   Gray provides New York attorneys with the key tools to satisfy all of their clients' estate planning needs.

Learning Objectives:
I.      Understand the function of a will.
II.     Explain what the job of a testator is.
III.    Have knowledge of what a probate estate is.
IV.    Elaborate on the benefits of a will.
V.     Explain what the New York Estates, Powers and Trust Law says.
VI.    Understand what a Self-Proving Affidavit is.
VII.   Differentiate between the different kinds of trusts.

Instructional Method: Self-Study
